Mike Hodges with KGEZ

600KGEZ is now the official home of the Flathead Braves and the Montana State University Bobcats.  Our Sports coverage also includes the Glacier High School Wolfpack and the University of Montana Grizzlies.

Mike Hodges does 2 daily sportscasts:

  • Les Schwab Sports Report – Weekdays at 8;15AM
  • Snappy Sport Senter’s Midday Sports Update – Weekdays at 12:15

There are two things deeply ingrained in Mike Hodges DNA:  Sports and Broadcasting.  From an early age, Mike has filled his life with sports activities excelling at basketball at Big Sky High School in Missoula.  At age 13, he was the national free-throw champion at the Elks National Hoop Shoot in Indianapolis—winning a trophy that was actually taller than he was!

Today, Mike is involved in a variety of lifelong sports.  He holds a single-digit Golf handicap, so don’t let him hustle you on the greens at our local courses.

Mike’s interest in local competitive sports goes much deeper than who won/who lost.  He knows, all too well, the personal commitment and sacrifices young athletes need to make to be successful.  Mike takes the time to get to know our local athletes…he interviews student athletes on his two daily sports shows on 600 KGEZ.

Braves Wolfpack HelmetsIn his two-decade long broadcasting career, he’s amassed a long list of credits.   He honed his play-by-play skills at stations in Missoula, Lewiston, Idaho, the Tri Cities, Washington at 920 KXLY in Spokane.  He produced an Associated Press Award-winning sports show at KONA/Tri Cities and KXLY/Spokane.

On 600 KGEZ, Mike is instrumental in our presentation of the Montana State Bobcats football and basketball seasons.  His close relationship with Coaches Rob Ash, Brad Huse and Trisha Binford brings MSU alumni closer to their alma mater.  In addition, he’s developed a solid relationship with the radio voice of the Bobcats, Tyler Wiltgen, who graces his twice-daily sportscasts each week during the active seasons.  This is a relationship that no other radio station in Northwest Montana can provide.

Mike understands that the University of Montana Grizzlies have many Flathead Valley fans.  That’s why he remains in close communication with Griz Football Coach Mick Delaney, Basketball Coach Wayne Tinkle and Lazy Griz Coach Robin Selvig–who are frequent guests on his sportscasts.

And while we’re on that subject, Kalispell’s Glacier High School Athletic Director and Coaches make frequent appearances on Mike’s Sportscasts, as well as Coaches and Athletic Directors from Whitefish High School, Columbia Falls High School, Bigfork High School, Eureka High School and other schools within the KGEZ listening area.
