Although neighbors expressed serious concerns, the Kalispell Planning Commission is sending the Planned Unit Development and Preliminary Platt Approval to develop 110-acres along Tronstad Road to the City Council. If the Council approves, 2-new neighborhoods–Tronstad Meadows and Whitetail Crossing, will add 355-single-family homes to the area. These homes, they say, would be in a price range that could be classified as “starter homes” for many young families.
Neighbors told the Commission they just don’t see how Tronstad Road can handle that influx in traffic. Developers Jon Sonju and Frank Garner pledge to make improvements on Tronstad Road that’ll handle the increased traffic created by the new residents. However, neighbors pointed-out the Whitefish Stage Road and Tronstad Road intersection as another problem spot.
It’s not known when the proposal will be taken up by the City Council, which is being pressed because of the acute housing shortage in the area.
