Just days before the elections, Attorney-General Austin Knudsen is in danger of having his law license suspended for 90-days. This, a recommendation from the Commission on Practice for actions “committed by himself or the Department of Justice attorneys he supervises.”
It’ll be up to the Montana Supreme Court, which isn’t required to follow the recommendations of the Commission.
This stems from his defense of the Legislature’s subpoena of the State Supreme Court to release upwards of 5,000-emails, which found their way onto websites. Some of the emails contained private information. The case was presented to the US Supreme Court, which chose not to take-up the matter.
Knudsen has 30-days to object, which is vows to do.
