Highway 2 Police Chase Ends In Arrest (New Information)

33-year old Daniel Balbas of Columbia Falls (pictured) remains in the Flathead County Detention Center on $1-million bail. His next court appearance is Thursday, November 14th. He’s now formally charged with Intimidation, Criminal Endangerment, Assault with A Weapon and Fleeing and Eluding Law Enforcement. All this as a result of a high-speed chase on Hwy 2 southwest of Columbia Falls last Saturday afternoon. Speeds up to 90-mph trying to outrun Deputies ended with a PIT maneuver near Hodgson Road. The events of the afternoon began with Deputies serving a warrant for Balbas’ arrest for threats made against his ex-wife, her fiance and family members. Columbia Falls Police Chief Chad Stephens tells us Balbas even threatened to shoot-up 2-churches. At some point during a search of the residence, Balbas fled the home and the pursuit began.
