The 69th Montana Legislature convenes just after the new year–on January 6th. This year, however, there will be no GOP super majority. Republicans will still have the majority in both Houses and the Governor’s mansion.
Leading the 32-Senate Republicans will be freshman Sen. Matt Regier of Kalispell, who last session, was Speaker of the House. The Senate Minority Leader will be Sen. Tom McGilvray of Billings.
Majority Whips will be Sens. Dennis Lenz of Billings, Barry Usher of Billings, Sue Vinton of Billings and Daniel Zolnikov of Roundup.
There will be 18-Senate Minority Democrats this session, who haven’t yet announced their leadership.
In the House, there will be 59-Republicans and 41-Democrats. Those leadership positions haven’t been announced.
Legislators, in both Houses, are in Helena the remainder of this week for Orientation with many pre-session meetings will continue well into December.
