The Kalispell City Council has scheduled a Work Session for Monday night to consider the City’s priorities for the 69th Montana Legislature, meeting right after the New Year.
Again, the City will call for an option to ask its citizens if they want a local-option sales tax. In previous sessions, there has been absolutely no appetite for expansion of the local-option sales tax, but our cities are trapped with no additional sources for revenue.
Kalispell would like to see more opportunities to invest in Tax Increment Financing for other things, such as infrastructure projects and, perhaps workforce housing projects.
Our City is joining a coalition of cities to attack other housing needs through passage of the Montana Land Use Planning Act, to make the process of planning and zoning more cost-effective.
As with all Work Sessions, no ordinances are enacted, no votes are taken.
