A 56-year old man from Libby has died as the results of a gunshot and screaming Friday night south of Libby. The–so far, unidentified man was pronounced dead when he arrived at the Cabinet Peaks Medical Center.
Lincoln County Sheriff Darren Short told Libby’s Western News the events unfolded around 8:00 in a camper on Frazel Loop, south of the city. There’s a lot of investigating to do, but he says the initial indications are that the man’s death was the result of self-defense. Several witnesses are being questioned by investigators.
Sheriff Short says their not certain of the exact cause of death, but it appears it was a stabbing, although witnesses say a gunshot rang out. The man’s body is at the State Crime Lab in Missoula for autopsy.
