We used to call it “Dragging Main”, but in modern times, it’s been called the “Kalispell Cruise” and, it has been involved in several fundraisers. And so, many were surprised that the issue actually came before the Kalispell City Council in a Work Session Monday night.
Council Chambers was filled with neighbors who complained about the traffic and noise–especially on Friday nights–the nights of the Kalispell Kruise. “Cruisers” say there’s nothing to it.
Council members say it’s important to respect one’s neighbors, but the were surprised to see come before the City Council. However, it has come before the Council before…several times. In fact, the Council asked City Staff to come up with some solutions. They found ordinances in Billings and other cities aimed to curbing cruising.
Kalispell City Council ward 2 member Chad Graham said: “Cruising is an American thing…and it has been forever. I would like to see respect brought into it by those who aren’t respecting it.”
Council members decided to not move forward with any ordinance regarding cruising downtown.
