It has been over a decade in the planning for the new Flathead County Detention Center and now, it looks like it is beginning to take-shape. Yesterday, the County Commissioners selected a design firm to develop our new Public Safety Facility. The Commissioners have entered into a contract with Elevatus Architecture, a firm that specializes in detention facilities.
A Selection Board has been formed to take the project to the next level. Members include Whitney Aschenwald, Pete Melnick, Jerry Root, Rep. Bob Keenan, Tom Anderson, Brett Walcheck and Sheriff Brian Heino, who visited several facilities designed by Elevatus.
This morning at 8:10, we’ll talk with Selection Board Members Tom Anderson and Brett Walcheck about what will be the most-expensive project Flathead County has ever considered.
