Highway 2 High Speed Chase – Arrest

33-year old Daniel Balbas of Columbia Falls is due in court today to learn what charges will be preferred against him following a high-speed chase on Hey 2 southwest of Columbia Falls Saturday afternoon. No one was injured, as speeds up to 90-mph ended in a PIT maneuver near Hodgson Road. Initially charged with Assault with a Weapon, Criminal Endangerment and Intimidation, along with Fleeing and Eluding Law Enforcement, he remains in the Flathead County Detention Center. The events of the afternoon began with Deputies serving a warrant for Balbas’ arrest for threats made against his ex-wife, her fiance and family members. Columbia Falls Police Chief Chad Stephens tells us Balbas even threatened to shoot-up 2-churches. At some point during a search of the residence, Balbas fled the home and the pursuit began.
