What could have been a terrifying situation was quickly resolved by Kalispell Police Officers Friday morning in the neighborhood of Elrod Elementary and Flathead High School. The 9-1-1 caller reported a juvenile pointing what appeared to be a handgun at other juveniles. Word was that the juvenile with the handgun was pointing it at a passing vehicle. School District 5 put the schools into immediate lockdown as police began their search.
It wasn’t long before officers found the group…turns out the handgun was a replica “air-soft pistol”. One juvenile was taken to police headquarters and released to his guardian.
Chief Jordan Venezio tells us this was an isolated incident and will be fully investigated with the case forwarded to the Flathead County Attorney for possible Criminal Charges.
Because juveniles were involved, no further information will be forthcoming.
