Flathead County will continue their practice of drug testing for County employees. The County Commissioners heard a grievance filed by the Montana Federation of Public Employees on behalf of health department employees.
The Commissioners heard the grievance and voted unanimously to continue the practice of testing county employees when it seems necessary. There is a protocol for ordering a drug test to ensure fairness.
The County conducts drug tests for employees who are supervisors, work in hazardous environments, public safety, public health, and security. A county employee who drives county vehicles is also tested when determined necessary.
Otherwise, testing is for pre-employment, reasonable suspicion, following an accident and, of course, random testing.
