If it seems like a lot of people have runny noses and are coughing, you’re a keen observer of what our Flathead City-County Health Department says is a major uptick in influenza cases. The Health Department’s Lisa Dennison tells us we had 530-cases of influenza reported–of them, 19-hospitalizations…and that’s just since the end of September.
In comparison, it has been much worse in the previous 3-years with 1,700-cases reports last year, 956-cases reported the year before and 1,141 the year before that.
To avoid becoming a statistic, follow the basics: wash hands, avoid people who appear to have symptoms and, if you’re felling under the weather, stay at home, drink fluids and get plenty of rest.
