The Kalispell Branch of the Flathead County Library could wind up along Kalispell’s Parkline Trail. The 2-acre property is at 40 North Main Street with plans to build a 40,000 square-foot, single-level facility with adequate parking.
Now, it’s up to the Flathead County Library Foundation to raise the $2.5-million to buy the land. Then, they’ll need to raise the money to construct the building. Everything is conditioned on the Foundation being able to find the funds.
This is the latest in a series of attempts over the past few years to discover a new home for the library, now in the old Post Office building on 1st Avenue East. That 3-level facility is fraught with the issues that come with an historic building.
The Flathead Library Foundation’s Executive Director Sarah Busse tells the KGEZ Good Morning Show that the success of the new Bigfork Branch of the Library has seen major increases in usage.
