Bathroom Bill Ready For The Governor’s Signature

House Bill 121 is on its way to the Governor’s desk. This one enforces sex-segregated spaces for multi-user bathrooms, dormitories and locker rooms, legally separating men and women based on their birth gender. It’s expected that Gov. Greg Gianforte will sign the bill based on Lt. Gov. Kristin Juris’ testimony in favor of it.

The new law requires any building that receives state funding to provide separate, multi-user spaces for men and women based on their birth gender regardless of their outward appearance. Here’s the enforcement part of the new law, assuming the Governor signs it: anyone who encounters someone of the opposite sex in a bathroom can sue that facility within two years.

Unlike most laws, this one will become effective immediately on the Governor’s signature.
