Appearing on the KGEZ Good Morning Show, Senate Minority Leader Pat Flowers tells us they’re working on an income tax rate decrease coupled with a property tax rate decrease. His example is, on the lowest rate, .76 tax rate with a lower median home value. He says about 50% of Montanans are in that lower rate will see their tax rate rolled back to the 2023 levels–before the huge property value increases.
He says there are 2-major property tax relief bills still alive, telling us the goal is to make tax relief permanent rather than dealing with rebates. The session is winding down, though. Next Monday is when the Legislative Session is slated to end. After that, they’ll have to go into Special Session, which is an expensive proposition.
