The Montana Supreme Court has upheld Missoula District Court Judge Jason Marks ruling, blocking Montana’s new law banning Gender-affirming medicare care for minors, called the “Montana Youth Protection Act.”
Immediately, Gov. Greg Gianforte told us he’s “deeply disappointed” in the ruling. He says the law is meant “to protect children from permanent, life-altering medical and surgical treatments.”
An even stronger statement comes from the upcoming State Senate President Matt Regier. He says, “Once again, the Montana Supreme Court has sided with radical liberals at the expense of common sense.” He assures us the Legislature will keep fighting to rein in what he calls, “our out-of-control Judicial Branch.”
Phoebe Cross, a 17-year-old transgender boy who is the lead plaintiff in the case said: “I will never understand why my representatives are working to strip me of my rights.” He continues, saying, “Just living as a trans teenager is difficult enough, the last thing me and my peers need is to have our rights taken away.”
The Attorney General’s office says it looks forward to defending the “Montana Youth Protection Act”.
