The Kalispell City Council goes into a closed Executive Session Wednesday night to interview a potential City Manager candidate. There is a formal process that needs to be followed, but the consensus is that our next City Manager will be our Interim City Manager, Jarod Nygren (pictured).
The Council, in a prior Executive Session, performed a thorough review of the applicants developed by the national search firm, GMP of Snoqualmie, Washington–just east of Seattle. In that search, Jarod Nygren was identified as “highly qualified” for the position. Other candidates were invited to interview, but declined, leaving Nygren the only serious candidate.
Jerod Nygren has been handling Development Services for the City for the past 11-years, overseeing over $150-million in new construction over the past 5-years. He holds a Masters of Public Administration. Although the Executive Session is closed to the public–and the media, comments can be sent to Public Comment at Kalispell dot com prior to the meeting.
If, in Wednesday night’s meeting, the Council decides to move forward with Nygren, a public open house will be scheduled before the Council holds its final vote.
