The blanks are filling in for November’s Municipal Elections. Filing for elective office in Flathead County’s three incorporated cities closes at close of business on Wednesday.
Here’s what we have so far:
For Mayor of Kalispell, Council Members Ryan Hunter and Sid Daoud, and Kalispell Business Improvement District Board Chair Kisa Davison.
There are four City Council positions open in Kalispell — Ward 1 incumbent Sandy Carlson faces Wes Walker. In Ward 2, Lisa Blank vies for the seat held by retiring Council President Chad Graham. Ward 3 features the return of former Council Member Kyle Waterman. In Ward 4, Bruce Guthrie files for the seat held by Jed Fisher, who hasn’t announced his plans yet.
Kalispell Municipal Judge Alison Howard has filed for reelection.
In Columbia Falls and Whitefish, Council Members serve at-large so the top vote getters get the gigs.
Columbia Falls Mayor Don Barnhart files for reelection — a continuation of this 27 years of service to his city. So far, only Council Member Paula Robinson has filed for reelection. Incumbents Jenny Lovering and Mike Shepard will not seek reelection. Challengers for the three open positions are Christopher Semok (SEM-ick), Elizabeth McBride, Hannah Pennington and Marijke (Muh-RAY-kuh) Stob.
There are three Council positions in Whitefish up for grabs. Current Council Members Guiseppe Caltabiano, Ben Davis and Andy Feury have filed for reelection. So far, nobody has filed to challenge these City Council Members.
