69th Montana Legislature Adjourns – KGEZ Good Morning Show Gets A Debrief

The 69th Montana Legislature has gone Sine Die. The session adjourned just before 1:00 Wednesday afternoon, as Legislators return to their home districts.  The KGEZ Good Morning Show snagged Kalispell Rep. Courtenay Sprunger immediately for a review Friday morning at 7:20 for Glacier Banks Community Conversations.

They did get 2-Property Tax Relief bills to the Governor: House Bill 231–the Homestead Tax Rate and Senate Bill 542–the Senate version of the Homestead Tax Rate, which creates a graduated tax rate based on property values. Higher-value properties will be taxed at a higher rate. Both bills create significant tax cuts for full-time Montana residents.

Income taxes will go down with the passage of House Bill 337, already signed by the Governor. Carried by Speaker Brandon Ler, a Republican from Savage, the bill raises the income threshold for the higher income tax rate, so most of us see a decrease to 4.7%. The higher income tax rate is reduced to 5.65%

The measure also raises the earned income tax credit from 10% to 20%.

We’ll get a full debriefing from Courtenay Friday morning at 7:20.  If you listen on your KGEZ Interactive app, you can set the calendar function in it to set an alarm on your phone, so you don’t miss it.  If, perchance you do, you can check the In Case You Missed It secton.
