Extreme cold has hit the Browning area with nighttime temps hitting negative numbers for the next few days with wind gusts up to 50-mph. This has prompted the Blackfeet Tribal Business Council to declare a state of emergency.
They’ve opened a warming shelter at the Stick Game Arbor, near Glacier Peaks Casino. There, residents can get warm meals, drinks and a place to rest. The Council is providing transportation, if needed. Sarah Wolf-Tail Croff is the Incident Commander for the emergency event.
