With archery season in full swing, FWP is reporting 2-grizzly bear encounters a week ago.
The first, in the Taylor Fork area south of Big Sky, 2-hunters found themselves in the vicinity of an elk carcass. Trying to scare the bear off, the yelled but then resorted to using their handguns (since they had no rifles). Both the bear and the hunters left the area.
The second encounter–in essentially the same area a week later, saw a lone hunter charged by the grizzly. This time, bear spray was enough to dissuade the bear to move on. He did…and so did the bow hunter.
We’ll get more on this year’s hunting seasons on the KGEZ Good Morning Show Wednesday morning at 9:10 with FWP’s Dillon Tabish.
