Columbia Falls Trailer Park Evictions

Residents of the Lazy Day Trailer Park, off Hwy 2 at Meadow Lake Boulevard, have received eviction notices. Chris Peterson of the Hungry Horse News, reports the residents have some options. If they leave by July 18th, turning over the title to their trailer, they’ll receive $10,000. Wait until September 18th, $5,000, and after October 18th, nothing. Residents say it’ll cost upwards of $6,000 to have their trailers moved…if…they can find another trailer park taking new residents. The property owners, a real estate investment firm in Whitefish, hasn’t announced their future plans for the property. Last June, the 26-residents of the Spring Creek Mobile Home Park, on Cedar Drive off Hwy 35 in Evergreen, received eviction notices. In this instance, no buy-out alternatives were offered, so residents are on their own. The Whitefish Community Foundation created a loan fund, seeded with $45,000 towards the goal of $160,000 to help re-settle residents. As property values–and taxes increase, landowners are pressured to find greater sources of revenue that is available as a trailer park.
