Following their Candidates Forum last week, Discover Kalispell Chamber of Commerce has taken the unprecedented step of endorsing candidates for City Government.
For Mayor, the Kalispell Chamber endorses Kisa Davison and for the City Council Ward 3, Kyle Waterman.
Appearing on the KGEZ Good Morning Show, Kisa Davison talked about developing and supporting more local businesses. While it’s true that we can order from Amazon and have it here sometimes the next day, there’s value in shopping locally. And, she asserts that we need to use our patronage of local businesses to encourage new businesses to open in our city.
Receiving the Chamber’s endorsement for City Council Ward 3, Kyle Waterman, appearing on the KGEZ Good Morning Show, we talked about the Council’s decision not to apply for the Main Street Safety Action Plan grant. City Staff worked for months gathering public comment in developing a very comprehensive plan. It is lost forever? He say “it shouldn’t be.” Kyle thinks the $25-million price tag was “sticker shock” and that, we should look for other funding opportunities to further develop our downtown.
It should be noted that the Discover Kalispell Chamber of Commerce is the business voice of our city. Chamber Board Chair Bill Moseley emphasizes the need for a Council that leads with “vision, courage and collaboration.”
