DMV Scam Hits Kalispell Motorists

The Kalispell Police Department has been getting calls about texts supposedly coming from the Montana Department of Motor Vehicles. Police Chief Jordan Venezio emphasizes that these are all fakes.

He tells us the scam claims to be a “Final Notice” from the Montana Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) and threatens enforcement actions unless an alleged unpaid traffic ticket is resolved immediately.

Chief Venezio tells us the message is absolutely not from any official state or local agency. The link provided directs users to a fraudulent website designed to steal personal and financial information.

Just know that Montana DMV does not send legal threats or payment demands via text message. And remember, all government websites always end in “dot-gov.”
