A grinding crash about eight months ago that killed 33-year -old Wyatt Potts is coming to trial September 8th in the court of District Judge Paul Sullivan. Charged with vehicular homicide while under the influence and 3 felony charges of negligent vehicular assault is 41-year-old Dal Jensen Segall of Corvallis. Segall, who has pled not guilty, is free on bail.
Outside the Flathead County Courthouse, the victims’ families and friends are demonstrating, hoping for a fair trial for Segall. They complain that they’ve had little information from prosecutors about about the upcoming trial. Justice, they say, is all they want.
The spectacular two-car head-on crash was on Hwy 83 near Echo Lake Road back on Sunday, December 1st. The truck driven by 41-year-old Dal Jensen Segall of Corvallis rolled, landing on its roof then sliding down the highway. It caught fire. His passenger, 33-year old Wyatt Potts of Kalispell died after being ejected from the rolling truck.
Driving the other vehicle, a RAV 4, was 33-year-old Teressa Brandt of Somers, along with her 15-year-old daughter, who both survived the crash. We understand Teressa has come out of her coma and is recovering at a nursing home.
Kalispell Toyota set up a GoFundMe page for Teressa Brandt to help cover medical expenses, and to help with funeral expenses for Wyatt Potts. The last we heard, the GoFundMe campaigns had raised nearly $25,000 for Teressa and over $23,000 for Wyatt Potts.
