Fatal Plane Crash In The Bob Marshall Wilderness

In Huntsville, Alabama, they’ll hold a vigil for a 3-people who died in small plane flying over the Bob Marshall Wilderness crashed Friday afternoon. Contact with the twin-engine Piper Aztec was lost around 4:30 Friday afternoon, igniting a massive search effort from Malmstrom Air Force Base. The craft was found the next morning in the Youngs Creek area northeast of Seeley Lake.

The Pilot, Mark Anderson of Huntsville, Alabama with his daughters–Lainey & Ellie and their dog, Stella died in the crash. Anderson’s wife, Misty, wasn’t onboard. We’re told the craft encountered engine trouble.

The older daughter, Lainey was a Certified Flight Instructor at Sanderson Aviation in Huntsville. It’s homecoming in Huntsville and the High School will delay all festivities–except the football game, until a later date as they mourn the death of Ellie Anderson.

The NTSB is conducting the investigation.
