We now know a bit more about the arrest of former Troy Police Officer Layton Artigo in Santa Ana, California and his extradition back to Lincoln County. Pictured above, he is an impending figure: 6″7″ tall weighing 350-pounds.
Lincoln County investigators were telling us only that Artigo was wanted for “suspicious activity”. The latest information we’re now getting has him charged with grooming a child for sexual abuse and tampering with evidence.
Joining the Troy Police Department last March, 23-year old Layton Artigo was dismissed on November 12th when the misconduct allegation were presented. Apparently, Artigo had been having inappropriate sexual conversations with minors on Snapchat, information they confirmed with the minor in question.
With a search warrant, Lincoln County investigators entered Artigo’s residence. He wasn’t present, but they found the place in–what they describe as disarray. What smelled like plastic burning caught their attention…they found the remains of a hard drive in Artigo’s oven.
As they explain what happened next. Artigo fled Montana taking a taxi to Washington State and later arriving in Southern California.
If found guilty, Artigo could face up to 10-years in prison.
