The thru route over Logan Pass will be ready for vehicles Monday, June 16th, with the Going-to-the-Sun Road opening earlier than expected. Even though the road will be open from West Glacier to St Mary, early travelers will note a lot of snow, which means crossing snowfields on foot could be dangerous. Park Rangers advise proper clothing and footwear for hiking the trails.
The Highline Trail will not be open until the snow melts a bit more. Like recent years, vehicles venturing past Apgar will need a reservation. The requirement for a reservation pass includes West Glacier and the North Fork entrances.
Like last year, reservations are time-specific and each has a 3-hour window. Outside of that window, the reservation is no longer valid. Reservations available by going to Recreation dot gov. It’s a good idea to check your status to make sure your payment information is up to date before attempting a reservation.
The reservation system will continue past the Labor Day weekend.
