Governor Declares Flathead, Lincoln, Sanders Counties Disaster Areas

The Atmospheric River hitting the Pacific Northwest has settled into NW Montana, bringing heavy rains, causing snow melt. The worst hit is the Libby and Troy areas, where rivers and creeks are above their banks causing floods, which in turn is causing water over the roadways on Hwy 2 southeast of Libby. South of Troy, Hwy 56, south of Bull Lake has water over the roadway. Gov. Greg Gianforte has issued an Executive Order declaring a flooding disaster for Lincoln, Sanders and Flathead Counties.

Libby residents advised to boil their drinking water. An estimated 183 homes and businesses are without power in the Granite Creek area southeast of Libby. The Granite Creek Road is shut-down.

The Cabinet Mountains has picked up more than a foot of water over the last 6-days. The Poorman Creek area, south of Libby, picked-up 5-inches yesterday. The National Weather Service says to expect another inch of rain Friday.
