It’s sad but true…you can’t trust everything you received on your phone or in your email. Scams are everywhere and the perps who create them are getting even more sophisticated.
Case-in-point: you may find a text message on your phone purportedly from the Montana Department of Motor Vehicles. It’s a scam! In our state, it’s the Motor Vehicle Division or MVD, not DMV. And more more thing: Our state doesn’t inform people of things like this via text message or email…and, anything from a legitimate government agency will be dot gov.
State agencies never ask us for payment over the phone or in emails. And one more thing: don’t click on a link to a website…that could be enough to compromise your personal information.
