Jimmy Kimmel Live returns to the ABC line-up at it normally-scheduled time Tuesday night. Kimmel was pulled off the air by ABC after criticism of his comments about the assassination of Charlie Kirk.
The popular late-night show has been on ABC television network stations since 2003, but some of their affiliate stations owners, Nexstar and Sinclair, pulled the show, forcing ABC to follow suit. No word yet from Nexstar and Sinclair, which owns local television station KCFW-TV 9 in Kalispell, as well as stations in Missoula, Butte and Bozeman.
KGEZ 20-20 News reports that upwards of 400 celebrities, including Tom Hanks, Meryl Streep and Jennifer Aniston along with the ACLU spoke out, calling ABC’s move an affront to free speech.
Disney CEO Bob Iger has been navigating competing pressures from ABC’s viewers, the FCC and the Trump Administration over Kimmel’s remarks following the assassination of Charlie Kirk last week.
