The Kalispell City Council meets in Special Session Monday night with one purpose: appointing an Interim City Manager. Our current city manager, Doug Russell, is departing to take his next position as city manager of Lakewood, Washington.
For the Interim position, Russell is recommending Development Services Dir. Jarod Nygren. He’s also recommending that Nygren’s compensation be increased $3,500 per month until a new city manager is hired. That process has already begun with a nationwide search. With Council approval, Nygren will begin his new role Tuesday, August 12th.
Following that vote, the Council goes into Executive Session to consider private, personnel matters.
