Montana State University quarterback Tommy Mellott was selected by the Las Vegas Raiders in the sixth round of the 2025 NFL Draft, taken with the 213th overall pick. The Butte native becomes the first Bobcat drafted since 2022.
Mellott capped off a stellar collegiate career by winning the 2024 Walter Payton Award, given to the top offensive player in the FCS. In his senior season, he lead the MSU Bobcats to a 15–1 record and an appearance in the FCS National Championship game .
Known for his versatility and athleticism, Mellott is expected to transition to wide receiver at the professional level, with potential contributions on special teams and in specialized offensive packages.
He will now look to make his mark in the NFL as he joins the Raiders for rookie minicamp and offseason training activities.
