A massive search continues for 45-year old Michael Paul Brown, an Army Veteran who, according to authorities, opened fire Friday morning on the only 4-people in the Owl Bar in Anaconda. All four–the bartender and 3-patrons, are dead.
Montana Division of Criminal Investigation Administrator Lee Johnson, in a late Friday night news conference, tells us that brown, fled the bar in a white truck, but it looks like he ditched it. Every available law enforcement officer is searching the vicinity, focusing on Stumptown Road, west of the city.
The 45-year old Brown served a tour in Iraq and, his family indicates he hasn’t been the same since. His neice, posting on Facebook, says her uncle is “a sick man who doesn’t know who he is sometimes and frequetly doesn’t know where or when he is, either.”
Since he used a weapon to kill the victims, authorities believe he remains armed and dangerous.
Using the modern definition of a mass killing–at least four victims are shot and killed, this is only the second mass killing in Montana history. The only other one was also in the Anaconda area in 2015.
