UM President Steps Down

As has been widely speculated, the Montana Free Press reports University of Montana President Seth Bodner plans to resign his position. The next steps for the University are up to the Commission of Higher Education.

The scuttlebutt is that Bodner intends to challenge Sen. Steve Daines for his Senate seat this fall. At this point, Bodner has refused to discuss his candidacy until after he makes an official announcement. If, as is speculated, he decides to run as an Independent, he’ll need to collect about 13,000-valid signatures on a petition.

The concept of running as an Independent was fueled by a text sent by former Sen. Jon Tester, who–on the KGEZ Good Morning Show, explains his view of the state of our current political parties.
