Four University of Idaho students were found brutally murdered in their home in Moscow, Idaho nearly 3 years ago. The prime suspect, Brian Kohberger, has admitted his guilt to Idaho District Judge Steven Hippler. Kohberger has been the prime suspect in the brutal stabbings for most of the last 3 years. His attorney made a plea deal to spare him from lethal injection, opting for a full confession and four life sentences in prison.
As heard on KGEZ 20-20 News, Kohberger told Judge Hippler — in open court — that he killed Kaylee Goncalves, Ethan Chapin, Xana Kernodle and Madison Mogen in cold blood. The Judge asked him repeatedly if he understood the charges against him and the seriousness of his confession.
No further details of the murders or a motive have been released. Kohberger, at the time, was a Criminal Justice graduate student just across the state line at Washington State University, in Pullman. He was eventually captured in Pennsylvania.
The families of the victims are split in their reactions to the plea deal.
