University of Idaho Students’ Killer Gets 4 Life Terms

The man who brutally murdered four young, helpless University of Idaho students will likely never draw another breath of free air.  In Boise, District Judge Steven Hippler sentenced 30-year-old Brian Kohberger (pictured)to live in prison without the possibility of parole for each of the 4 people he stabbed to death.  That’s four consecutive life sentences — one after the other.

But before Kohberger could be led out of the courtroom to continue his life behind bars, he had to endure about two hours of statements from the victim’s friends and families, and it was deeply emotional.   Kohberger took a plea deal to avoid the death penalty.  As he exited, one called-out, “Coward!”  Prosecutors asked Judge Hippler to extend the “no contact with the victim’s family” order to 99 years.  It currently expires in 2027.

It was the  early hours of November 13, 2022, Brian Kohberger admitted to stabbing the four students, living off-campus in Moscow, Idaho.  Kohberger was a Criminology Ph.D student just across the border at Washington State University, in Pullman.  No motive has been established for the killings.
