Progress is being made in opening the Going-to-the-Sun Road for the season. Beginning tomorrow, vehicles can get in as far as the Avalanche Campground. At the same time, the Apgar Visitor Center opens for the season and North Lake McDonald Road is now open to vehicles.
As for the snowplows, they’re clearing the section between Triple Arches and Rim Rock. On the east side, you can drive up to the Jackson Glacier Overlook. Still no firm opening date, but the thru route isn’t likely to be open until late June.
Hiker/bikers can get in as far as Packers Roost on the west side and Siyeh Bend on the east side. The Hiker/Biker Shuttle isn’t operating quite yet, but it’s coming soon.
Inside North Fork Road is closed from Camas Creek to Logging Creek due to bear activity.
Camas Road is open for the season, as is Fish Creek Road up to the Rocky Point trailhead. The entire length of Grist Road, on the west side of Lake McDonald is now open. Also, Quarter Circle Bridge Road is now open for the season.
The Kintla Road is now open up to the Doverspike Gate, and Bowman Lake Road is fully open. The Goat Lick area is open for the season.
Cut Bank Road is open up to the Trailhead, and Two Medicine Road, between East Glacier and Hwy 89 is now open for the season.
