The Shoshone County Sheriff’s investigators, along with the Idaho State Police, continue to unravel the events of last Friday’s shooting in Wallace, Idaho. And this one hits close to home…the shootings happened outside the Sheriff’s offices in Wallace. And what’s worse, we may never know why this happened…the shooter, 77-year old John Drake is dead following a shoot-out with Deputies.
Shoshone County Sheriff William Eddy, tells us Drake began firing outside the Sheriff’s office, landing some rounds in the nearby Ace Hardware building. Three people were wounded–two women who were shot in the legs and Kellogg Police Officer Dameon Groves, who took a round in his ear. All 3 were treated at area hospitals.
Sheriff Eddy describes the events that lead to the perpetrator’s death. The 77-year old Drake entered the Sheriff’s offices, shooting as he moved deeper into the building. It was an hour-long stand-off that finally ended with a fatal shot to Drake.
So far, investigators haven’t been able to tell us what Drake’s motive might have been.
