Your mobile phone continues to become more valuable–not just the cost of the phone, but its contents. These days, your phone contains a plethora of valuable–and personal, information. Beginning next week, your phone can now contain your Montana Driver’s License.
That makes it possible for you to identify yourself with a “tap”…and that includes your Apple Watch. We’re told it’s secure and easy to use. And so now, your phone can contain your fishing and hunting licenses–including deer and elk tags. Those along with your credit cards, account numbers, passwords and the phone numbers of our friends and relatives.
The enabling bill for this was carried by Republican Rep. Braxton Mitchell of Columbia Falls. Republican Sen. Ken Bogner of Miles City, added one major caveat: if you turn your phone over to a law enforcement officer for identification, it doesn’t give the officer permission to search your phone.
Mitchell tells us this ID can’t be faked. It’s a live, encoded process and it’ll work in 16-states…so far. However, one is advised to carry your REAL ID when clearing TSA for a domestic flight.
