A high-speed chase through Columbia Falls that ended with a head-on crash east of town where Hwy 2 meets Hwy 206, had a young woman in a Seattle Hospital and a man in jail. In jail is 34-year old Alfred Chester-Paul Flamond, where he’s facing a host of felony charges. And that’s where he’s going to stay. At a hearing to reduce his bond before District Judge Dani Coffman, not only did she not decrease his bond, she raised it to $500,000.
Driving the other vehicle that night was 16-year old Hazel Alexander (pictured above), a junior at Columbia Falls High School. Her injuries, severe enough to land her at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. She’s now recovering at home.
The community has responded with fund-raiser and, yesterday, showed up at the County Justice Center, resisting a move to reduce Fammond’s bail enough so he could get out of jail.
As for Flamond, he’ll sit it out in jail while he’s waiting for his trial, facing charges of Criminal Endangerment, fleeing an officer causing severe bodily injuries, theft and Criminal possession of dangerous drugs. Bringing with him to his trial, a long arrest-record, including 9-previous arrests in the past 6-months. He continues to say he’s not guilty of all the charges against him.
