DNRC reports 81 active wildfires in the state, of which 15 have popped up in the past 24 hours.
The largest is the Wilder Fire in Fergus County, which is up to 3,450 acres with no containment. There are several more new flare-ups, including the Flicker Fire in Phillips County at 806 acres and 40% contained. The Horseshoe Fire in Garfield County is 10% contained at 800 acres. As of this morning, there are 8 more large wildfires burning in our state
The Jericho Mountain Fire, 5 miles south of McDonald Pass off Hwy 12, is now 100% contained at 482 acres. The Helena Ranger District of 50 firefighters is working in heavy dead and down lodgepole pine.
The Dorito Wildfire is being fought near Winnett, in Petroleum County, and is up to 185 acres with no containment. It is being fought by local firefighters with additional resources being called in.
