A man from the Deer Lodge area with an active warrant for his arrest is in the Flathead County Detention Center this morning. It wasn’t easy locating and bringing Joseph Castell in. It took the NW Montana SWAT team.
The 54-year old Castell is wanted in connection with several warrants, including his parole violation from Powell County.
All this came down around 2:00 yesterday along Foothills Road when a high-speed chase ended with spike strips (pictured) across the roadway. Sheriff Brian
Heino tells us Castell lept out of his vehicle and started running, barricading himself in a residence. That’s when the SWAT team was summonsed, along with Two-Bear Air and drones.
In addition to the charges in Powell County, he’s accumulated 2-more in Flathead County: Obstructing a Peace Officer and Fleeing from or eluding a peace officer. He’s due in court this afternoon.
