Montana State Bobcats Push for Big Sky Tournament Position as Conference Race Heats Up

As the Big Sky Conference men’s basketball season heats up, the Montana State Bobcats are striving to improve their position in the standings. Currently, the Bobcats hold a 5-5 conference record and a 10-13 overall standing, with a notable 8-2 record at home. They are on a two-game winning streak, indicating positive momentum as the season advances.

Leading the conference, Northern Colorado boasts a 9-1 conference record and a 17-6 overall standing, including an undefeated 5-0 home record and a current three-game winning streak. The University of Montana Grizzlies closely follow with an 8-2 conference record and a 15-8 overall standing, maintaining an impressive 12-1 home record and riding a four-game winning streak.

Portland State holds a 5-4 conference record and a 13-9 overall standing, but is currently on a two-game losing streak. Idaho State and Idaho both have 5-5 conference records, but ISU recently faced a loss, and Idaho is also coming off a loss.

The upcoming games on Feb. 6 at Northern Arizona and Feb. 8 at league leading Northern Colorado are crucial for the Bobcats as they aim to climb the standings and secure a favorable seed in the Big Sky Conference Tournament, scheduled for March 8-12, 2025, at Idaho Central Arena in Boise, Idaho. A strong finish to the regular season could provide the momentum needed for a deep postseason run.

Both Men’s and Women’s Big Sky Conference Tournaments will be held March 8th – 12th at Idaho Central Arena in Boise, Idaho.
