Attorney General Pam Bondi has appointed Kurt Alme as interim US Attorney for the District of Montana. He was sworn in by Billings Federal Judge Brian Morris on Monday. Interestingly, Alme was our state’s US Attorney during the first Trump Administration. In his most recent role, he was Gov. Greg Gianforte’s Budget Director.
Alme graduated from High School in Miles City, earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Colorado and his law degree from Harvard Law.
He replaces acting US Attorney Timothy Racicot, who took over following the sudden departure of Biden appointed Jesse Laslovich who was fired by Pam Bondi.
This apparently closes the circle of a memo issued to all Justice Department employees, saying she expects all U.S. Attorneys to, in her words, “zealously advance, protect, and defend their client’s interests.” The client, she says, is President Trump.
