We were on deadline to apply for the Homestead or Long-term Rental Tax Rate Reduction…which was this Sunday. Now, we’re getting word from Gov.Greg Gianforte and Revenue Director Brendan Beatty that the deadline has been extended till Friday, March 20th.
Seems the long-term rental property applications had been slow in coming…then, technical issues on the online portal caused a lot of grief. And so, the extension seems appropriate.
Gov. Gianforte tells us their top priority if “delivering permanent and meaningful property tax relieve.”
And so, to apply for the tax reductions, go to Homestead dot MT dot gov before midnight Friday, March 20th.
The Legislature passed Senate Bill 542 in the last session, but a group of lawmakers has filed a lawsuit saying the whole thing in unconstitutional.
