Congressman Ryan Zinke (pictured in KGEZ Studio One) will not seek reelection. KGEZ 20-20 News has noted for some time that Zinke hasn’t formally filed for the office he’s held for 4-terms. Now, we know why.
Congressman Zinke tells us he has been quietly undergoing surgeries for the past few years and will require more. He explains that he suffered injuries in Special Operations as a Navy Seal and his recovery will require considerable time with his wife Lola and his family. He says he’s informed President Trump, Gov. Greg Gianforte and his state’s Congressional colleagues of his decision.
Zinke’s announcement brought-out reactions, including Sen. Steve Daines, who notes Zinke’s accomplishments as a Navy Seal, a Montana Legislator, as Interior Secretary and in Congress. Sen. Tim Sheehy calls Zinke “a great American”.
Gov. Greg Gianforte calls Zinke “an outspoken advocated for Montanans.”
The KGEZ Good Morning Show has enjoyed many frank and congenial conversations with Congressman Zinke and we thank him for his candor. What happens for the Republican Party, at this point, is anyone’s guess with 4-Democrats filed. The deadline for filing is close-of-business this Wednesday.
