Adding another level of security to Kalispell’s 12-public schools, the District has hired Talos Security to patrol the district’s properties. Talos, founded by 2005 Flathead High grads Brad Timmons and James Hatton, is already doing light security duties for downtown Kalispell businesses.
Kalispell Schools’ Superintendent Matt Jensen assures us that this is a proactive measure and not in response to a specific threat. The plan is for Talos to patrol not just the school buildings, but their surrounding neighborhoods using both vehicle and foot patrols.
Kalispell Police Chief Jordan Venezio reminds us his department continues as the primary law enforcement partner of the district, but he supports the district’s layered safety strategy.
