A little more light is being shined on the future of the property in Columbia Falls, off Hwy 2 at Meadow Lake Boulevard. A zone change is being requested.
Residents of the Lazy Day Trailer Park off Hwy 2 at Meadow Lake Boulevard have received eviction notices. Chris Peterson of the Hungry Horse News reports the residents have some options. If they leave by July 18th, turning over the title to their trailer, they’ll receive $10,000. Wait until September 18th, $5,000, and after October 18th, nothing.
Residents say it’ll cost upwards of $6,000 to have their trailers moved — if they can find another trailer park taking new residents.
The zone change applies to the northern portion of the property, from Light Industrial to General Business. The southern portion is already zoned General Business. The new owners, an investment firm in Whitefish, hasn’t revealed their plans for the property once vacated by the trailer-home owners.
The Columbia Falls Planning Commission takes up the matter at their next meeting, Thursday, June 12th.
